2023: The Year of the Detox

20 Jan

I love working behind the salon chair and painting hair as a canvas for my gorgeous colour clients. We know there’s no better way to a great hair care routine than with a clean base…and that’s what MUVO Deep Cleansing products are all about! Let’s dive into why a hair and scalp detox is the best thing you can start your year with and continue throughout 2023!

Now is a perfect time to start fresh in all areas of your life, including your hair! Have you been colouring your hair with MUVO’s temporary toning products to revel in the party bright hair colour trend? Or perhaps you’ve overdone it with dry shampoo and blow-dry extenders over the festive season?

Whatever the situation we’ve got you covered! January is a great month to start fresh with a hair reset plan to get your locks ready for the amazing hair opportunities that await you in 2023.

Detoxing your hair doesn’t mean you need to stop mixing MUVO Mocktails or exploring new colours! Quite the contrary; in order for your hairdresser to create magic in the salon, they’ll need a clean canvas for colour and styling products to perform the best that they can.

I suggest that my clients do a clarifying wash every week or two depending on the frequency of their shampooing and the amount of coloured shampoo or toning products they use. But these aren’t the only factors that you need to consider if you think your hair needs a good reset. Environmental build-up caused by pollutants, minerals from the water and pipes as well as any extra product build-up from hairspray, dry shampoos and styling products can all affect your hair health and salon results. For example, it can be impossible for your stylist to accurately predict a colour result if there is a build-up of dry shampoo or coloured root sprays in the hair or scalp.

So if you’re visiting the salon soon, I would recommend using MUVO Deep Cleansing Shampoo before your appointment to avoid giving your hairdresser a headache! Help your hairdresser create your dream hair by prepping your hair like an artist preparing their canvas for a masterpiece.

Using Deep Cleansing Shampoo when needed will also make drying and styling your hair on a regular basis much more manageable. Say goodbye to flat blowdires and dropped curls.

Now, let’s talk about your scalp! During changes in seasons, a lot of people complain about irritated scalps or flaking. This is rarely the dandruff that many people assume it is. It’s much more common to be a build-up of oils or excess styling products on your scalp.

If you have any of this itchiness or flaking, you’ll also want to add a scalp spray to your haircare arsenal. MUVO’s Scalp Cleansing Spray is the best pre-shampoo product that adds extra grunt power to your hair detox routine. It removes excess oil and product build-up, while also returning your scalp back to a normal pH level. The exfoliating spray gently removes dead skin cells to reduce flakiness and also helps with any itchiness associated with dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, and acne.

Both MUVO Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Scalp Cleansing Spray contain Wild Orange Leaf extract as a powerful cleanser and purifying agent that helps protect against UV and heat, assists in wound healing, and conditions the scalp by boosting hydration. This makes sure your hair and scalp isn’t left dry, flaky, or brittle.

Other ingredients also stimulate blood flow to help with hair growth and scalp nourishment, especially when combined with MUVO’s Scalp Brush, which not only feels like heaven, but takes some of the effort away to work the product in. Now doesn’t that sound amazing?!

Combine Deep Cleansing Shampoo, Scalp Cleansing Spray and the Scalp Brush to transform limp, dull and lifeless hair into bouncy, rejuvenated and shiny magnificence that is the perfect base for colour and style hold.

Who should use Deep Cleansing Shampoo?

Most people can (and should!) use Deep Cleansing Shampoo.

It’s perfect for fine, limp, oily, thinning hair or those who experience hormonal issues. It’s also great to use after a workout to avoid the minerals in sweat causing your scalp and hair to go flat or itchy.

Deep Cleansing Shampoo assists in giving volume and also addresses oiliness and scalp issues. It’s also great for removing temporary MUVO coloured shampoos from your hair. This is great news for me and all colour-loving people out there so that we can change our hair colour easily whenever the mood strikes!

Whether you’ve had a big night of hairspray, been overdoing it on the dry shampoo, have some colour staining or have been swimming in chlorinated pools, Deep Cleansing Shampoo is for you.

How should you use Deep Cleansing Shampoo?

Knowing the application and usage of Deep Cleansing Shampoo is vital in order to break down products and oils, stimulate blood flow and ultimately encourage new hair growth. Starting at the back of the scalp, massage in and work towards the front of the scalp. We recommend starting at the nape or back of the neck because this is where your hair will accumulate the most build-up and oils. Repeat the process again if necessary and then condition with your favourite MUVO conditioner.

The first application of Deep Cleansing Shampoo is to remove product from your hair, and the second shampoo is to actually clean and stimulate the hair and scalp. Click to read our blog on why you should be double cleansing.

As mentioned above, Deep Cleansing Shampoo is best paired with MUVO’s Silicon Scalp Brush to provide the ultimate scalp massage and stimulate blood flow to encourage new hair growth.

This Scalp Brush feels incredible! I love it! I have struggled with a dry scalp and sensitivity for years and personally found this brush and Deep Cleansing Shampoo combination calming and invigorating without flaring up my scalp. My scalp is healthier, and I am free to change my hair colour from week to week.

How often should you use Deep Cleanse Shampoo?

The frequency and use of MUVO Deep Cleansing Shampoo depends on a few things; the products you use and how often you use them, what sort of colour your hair is treated with, and how oily your hair gets naturally.

Some people are frequent and heavy-handed users of styling products. If this is you, we suggest that you use Deep Cleansing Shampoo maybe once or twice a week. Those with short hair and using heavier styling products can feel free to use Deep Cleansing Shampoo every wash.

I also recommend that naturally oily-haired people also use Deep Cleansing Shampoo once or twice a week. After a few weeks of use, you will observe that the oiliness will level out and you will start to experience a rebalanced and healthier scalp.

MUVO Deep Cleansing Shampoo was designed to reset or remove any of the MUVO coloured shampoos when you’re ready to return to your original hair colour. MUVO Deep Cleansing Shampoo clarifies to remove temporary colours but will not remove permanent, demi or semi-colours. We always recommend caution is taken when using Deep Cleansing Shampoo on semi-permanent colours because some hair doesn’t accept semis well and can therefore be removed more easily. If you are unsure what type of base colour you have, I would suggest doing a test patch on an inconspicuous area before lathering it over your entire head.
